| Outline of Research at the Start |
新学習指導要領には、新たに伝統や文化に関する教育の充実が盛り込まれ、自国の生活文化を理解し、次世代に継承していくことも求められるようになった。本研究は、日本人の住まいと暮らしに焦点を当て、生活文化の継承・創造の在り方を検討することを目的とし、２つの方向からアプローチする。
まず、和の住生活文化に関する調査によって、有形文化、無形文化としての和の空間とその住まい方の特異性を明らかにする。それを踏まえた上で、家庭科教育を中心とした教科間の連携を踏まえた教育学的アプローチからの和の伝統文化に関する調査を行う。最終的に、学校教育における生活文化の継承・創造に関する教材開発に繋げる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The study consisted of a survey of elementary school students and a survey of college students.
(1) As a result of analysis of the Courses of Study, etc., descriptions of traditional living culture were found in several subjects. (2) The results of the survey of elementary school students indicated that traditional living spaces are no longer familiar to them. However, their interest in learning was high, and it was considered necessary to include content that would help them understand the essential appeal of the Japanese dwelling style. (3) A survey of university students revealed that many of them had only vague memories of what they had learned. It was considered necessary to address this content together with the significance of traditional housing and lifestyle culture.
These results indicate the importance of collaboration with other subjects and the need to develop curriculum and teaching materials with essential meaning.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
日本において伝統的な住まいづくりや暮らしの文化が失われつつあり、国土交通省は「和の住まいの推進」という国民向け普及活動を始めた。その結果、近年、様々な側面から「伝統的住生活文化」の研究が行われるようになった。一方、平成29年改訂学習指導要領には伝統や文化に関する教育の充実が盛り込まれ、グローバル化が進む中、自国の生活文化を理解し、次世代に継承していくことがより求められる時代になったと言える。本研究の結果、住生活文化の継承・創造のためには単なるハード面の知識を取り扱うだけでなく、和の文化の「本質」を取り扱うことの必要性が認められた。この結果が本研究の学術的・社会的意義と言える。
