Outline of Research at the Start

ITERのプラズマ中心部等高電子温度のプラズマ中に分布し放射損失の担い手になると考えられる,極めて価数の高いタングステンイオンの空間分布計測手法を確立する.具体的には,核融合科学研究所の大型ヘリカル装置LHDで極端紫外分光を用いて,高電離タングステンイオンの発光波長同定と空間分布計測を行う.電子密度及び電子温度の空間分布とタングステン不純物輸送の関係を調べ,不純物蓄積を抑制する条件を探索する.

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

核融合プラズマの対向材として金属タングステンを用いる場合,プラズマ中にタングステン不純物イオンが蓄積することによる放射損失が問題となる.本研究では,ITERのプラズマ中心部など極めて電子温度の高いプラズマ中に分布すると考えられる高電離タングステンイオンの空間分布計測手法を確立する.実験は核融合科学研究所の大型ヘリカル装置LHDで行った.炭素樹脂内に微量のタングステン金属片を封入したペレット(タングステン原子10^17~10^19個に相当)を,中性粒子ビーム加熱により維持された高温(1~5 keV)・高密度(10^13~10^14 cm^-3)の水素プラズマに導入し,ペレット入射後に電子サイクロトロン共鳴加熱を重畳し高い電子温度を維持することにより,高電離タングステンイオンの十分な発光量を得た.今年度は分光計測の波長領域を,これまで観測してきた可視・真空紫外(VUV)・極端紫外(EUV)よりも短波長のX線領域まで拡大し,波長領域3.7~4.0オングストロームにおける高価数タングステンイオンの発光線スペクトルデータの拡充を図った.その結果電子温度が3keVから5keV程度の領域で,42価から46価までの発光線が観測された.先行研究で47価とされている発光線も観測されたが,これまでLHDでは観測されていない高価数であるため価数同定には精査を要する.さらに,既知の発光線に加え,本研究で初めて観測された発光線も多数確認された.これらの未同定発光線については,EUVスペクトルの41価から46価の発光線強度との比較を通して,価数を推定できる見通しを得た.

Reason

高温プラズマへのタングステン不純物導入,可視・真空紫外・極端紫外・X線の広波長領域分光によるタングステンイオン発光の計測,低価数から高価数までのタングステン線スペクトルデータの取得,タングステンイオンの輸送特性の変化を示唆する現象の観測,先行研究では報告されていなかった高価数タングステン線スペクトルの観測など,研究の各段階において当初期待していたとおり成果が出ているため,おおむね順調に進展していると評価できる.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

プラズマの赤道面に対して垂直方向に空間分解能を持つ分光器を用いて、タングステンイオンの発光強度分布を空間分解計測する.プラズマへの粒子供給や加熱を制御して電子密度及び電子温度の空間分布を変化させ,これらの分布とタングステン不純物輸送の関係を探索する.特にタングステン不純物蓄積を抑制する運転シナリオ構築の観点からデータを整理する.また近年LHD装置において,高温プラズマへの軽元素不純物粉末の導入が鉄金属不純物の低減をもたらすという観測結果があるため,タングステン不純物に関しても同様の現象が起こるのかどうかを検証し,不純物制御の可能性を模索する.
