| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は，独自の近代化を遂げた瀬戸内海沿岸地域を対象に，各地に残存する「地域性を帯びた独自の土着型建築生産技術」の実態解明を試み，日本型近代化プロセスが持つ多面的特質の解明を目的とする。その際，各地で試みられた建築生産技術近代化の「萌芽的な試み」に注目し，
①「如何なる近世的素地や地理的条件の下で各技術が具現化され，地域的な普及を果たしたのか？」
②「伝統的な普請の構造を前提とした各建築生産技術の近代化・普及プロセスが，如何なる史的価値・特徴を有するのか？」
③「各技術がどのように地域間で相互に関連付けられ，日本の近代化プロセスの中に如何なる形で位置付けられるのか？」
の解明を試みる。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research project, we focused on local traditional architectural techniques. After the local architectural techniques were established as a unique technique along the Seto Inland Sea, these techniques were lost over time.
The results of this research project clarified architectural characteristics of stone pillar structures in Ozu-shima, Shunan City and wooden annex in Akiyoshidai area.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
近年,地域固有の環境資源を評価し,保全・活用に繋げる取り組みが全国的に行われている。一方,個々の伝統的な建築物などの活用については,多くの課題が存在する。本研究課題で取り上げた対象事例も,現在その多くが消失の危機に瀕していることに加え,その学術的な価値や,各事例が有する独自性の理解は未だ不十分である。本研究では,各地域固有の歴史や文化の中で個々の事例を位置づけ,その地域資源としての価値を再考・再評価する点に学術的意義及び社会的意義を有している。
