| Outline of Research at the Start |
本研究は，これまで取り組んできた2004年新潟県中越地震で被災した長岡市山古志地区を含む豪雪中山間地を対象として，住民がwell-beingを感じられる農村社会を創出することを目的として，地域コミュニティの再編の比較研究を行うものである。
次の成果を目指す。①先進事例のコミュニティ再編の長期的変容を明らかにする，②人口減少と高齢化のフロンティアである豪雪中山間地のコミュニティ再編を比較検討する，③コミュニティ再編を集落営農主導型と地域交流団体主導型に分けてそれぞれの特性を明らかにする。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aims to clear the key point of rural community reorganization which members are the well-being status. The participant observation and interviews were conducted with the members of two groups which the author belongs to, which were "Yamakoshi-togyu-kai" Group which executes the traditional event "Tsunozuki" Bullfight, and the "Yamakoshi-Kogomo-furusato-kai" Group which supports the residents in the Kogomo settlement sunk by the Mid Niigata prefecture Earthquake in 2004. The key to success over the past 10 years has been the motivated attitude of the residents and the outsiders’ respect for the residents. The key point is an equal attitude of mutual respect for both residents and outsiders.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
被災経験のある中山間地域の住民のもつ安寧（Well-being）、および、地域外の支援者とのつながりを事例をもとに示したことにより、人口減少や高齢化が進む中山間地域の振興や、令和6年能登半島地震をはじめ自然災害に被災した農村地域の復興の必要性を学術的に示す意義がある。経済効率性のみではなくWell-beingの観点からそれらの推進が社会的に重要である。
