近年、薬局薬剤師には国民の健康維持・増進に貢献することが求められています。虫歯や歯周病、口臭などの口腔疾患は全身の疾患とも関連しており、「口の健康」を保つことが重要です。本研究では、①薬局において唾液による口腔内環境測定を行うことで、口腔ケア習慣や歯科受診に変化を及ぼすか検証することで、その有用性を明らかにします。②口臭を簡便に測定できるツールを用いて、薬局で口臭測定を行うことの意義や口腔ケア習慣への影響などを明らかにします。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Educational events on oral flailty held at community pharmacies showed improvements in awareness and behavior toward oral flailty prevention. The Japanese showed a high level of interest in measuring oral malodor at community pharmacies. Oral malodor was found to be influenced by diet. It was elucidated that community pharmacists had low confidence in handling oral health issues and needed educational and training opportunities on oral health.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
薬局には国民の健康維持・増進を支援する役割が求められている。本研究より、薬局での口腔疾患の啓発イベントの効果が示されたことから、全国の薬局で同様の啓発イベントの普及が期待される。また、口臭測定への国民の関心度も確認され、今後新たに薬局での口臭測定の導入につながることが考えられる。一方で、薬局薬剤師の口腔に関する教育・研修のニーズが示されたことから、薬学生及び薬剤師に対する口腔領域の教育が整備されることが期待される。薬局薬剤師が国民の口腔の健康維持・増進に貢献することで、健康寿命の延伸につながることが考えられる。
