自閉スペクトラム症には、不適切な対人行動、被害念慮、社交不安、回避などの二次障害がしばしば生じることが知られているが、その病理形成メカニズムは明らかでない。本研究課題では、自閉スペクトラム症にしばしば認められる社会認知、特に表情認知のゆがみが病理形成に関与するとの仮説を立て、その検証を行う。知的能力障害がなく、併存精神疾患のない自閉スペクトラム症の児童を、組み入れ時、２年後、４年後の３回にわたり評価し、自閉スペクトラム症のどのような表情認知障害が二次障害に関連するか、精神病理の形成へとつながるのかを明らかにする。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is associated with a variety of comorbid psychiatric disorders, including depression and anxiety, but the origins of these disorders are unclear. The present study aimed to clarify the association between cognitive function and developmental characteristics of ASD and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or their comorbidities, considering the confounding of depressive, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and dissociative symptoms under the diagnostic threshold. We found that attentional localization to gaze direction was attenuated in ADHD as well as ASD, that socially rewarded inhibition of executive function was reduced in ADHD, and that the ASD and ADHD comorbid group had lower performance in time-length playback and greater variability in time playback. The relationship with psychopathological symptoms is being analyzed based on the identified parameters.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
自閉スペクトラム症と注意欠如多動症は、いずれも有病率が高く、学校、家庭、社会生活において多大な影響を及ぼすほか、精神疾患を高率に併存する。しかし、先行研究においては、これらの精神疾患は考慮されていないか、対象の除外項目として扱われてきた。今回、多数例を対象に精神症状の交絡を考慮したうえで、神経心理学的機能と臨床表現型の関係を検討できたことは意義深い。
