Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study aimed to elucidate the role and performance of infection control nurses (ICN) in antimicrobial stewardship (AS), as well as the essential competencies and roles expected of other professionals. The goal was to develop a role model for ICNs in AS. A qualitative descriptive study was conducted. Participants included ICNs, physicians, pharmacists, and clinical laboratory technicians involved in the AS team (AST). Semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect information on the activities of the AST, the roles and practices within the team, and the methods of collaboration with other professionals. Data was analyzed using qualitative inductive analysis. ICNs were found to play roles in the " management of AST," "support interventions related to AS," and "educating multidisciplinary AS staff. These findings suggest that ICNs can contribute to effective infection control and patient care.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
