Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research clarified how mothers acquire health literacy in child-rearing.
The qualitative research showed that mothers began to be exposed to information on child-rearing during pregnancy, and immediately after giving birth, they raised their children using the information they already had. However, from about one month after giving birth, they began to gather information themselves, and while they had experiences where they were unable to use the information, they came to understand the characteristics of their children, and by about six months after giving birth, they were confident in using information about child-rearing. The quantitative research showed that 3.9 months after giving birth, mothers felt that child-rearing was going smoothly thanks to the use of information. Many mothers gathered information from the Internet, etc., but it was suggested that they were able to use information smoothly by also obtaining information from people close to them.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
