Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
The Community-Based Integrated Care System in Japan aims to enable individuals to live with dignity in their communities until the end of life. This study conceptualized service-enhanced housing for older adults (hereafter “Sakoju”) not merely as a place of residence but as a core node within this system, with the objective of developing management and operational indicators to support continued living for residents with moderate to severe care needs. Through a literature review and qualitative interviews, the concept of resident support was elucidated, and a set of support indicators enabling end-of-life residence in Sakoju was developed. A questionnaire survey was conducted with Sakoju staff to examine the reliability and validity of the indicators. Based on 215 valid responses, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were performed, resulting in a reliable and valid scale comprising 17 items across four factors.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
