Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study focused on developing a program to reduce loneliness and prevent social isolation among middle-aged adults. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated changes to our original plan. We reviewed domestic and international literature and engaged in discussions with researchers and representatives from charitable organizations that specialize in addressing loneliness and social isolation in the UK. Our findings suggested the necessity of support focused on life events, such as retirement and caring for family members, to reduce loneliness and prevent social isolation among middle-aged adults. Additionally, we found that the mechanisms to connect this population with essential resources were not adequately established. Further research is required to clarify social prescriptions' and link workers' functions and roles.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
