| Outline of Research at the Start |
3年間の研究期間で, 小学校外国語活動・外国語における言語活動と言語習得の関係性について検証することが目的です。従来の外国語活動では, 言語活動を通した外国語への慣れ親しみが主な目的であったが, 教科となってからは具体的な言語能力の習得まで求められます。しかし, 今年度より正式に小学校外国語が始まるため, 現段階では, 特定の言語活動と児童が習得できるであろう言語能力の関係性は明らかにされていません。そこで, 本研究と通して, どのような言語活動をどのように行うことで, 学習指導要領に基づく言語能力の育成を児童の実態に考慮しながらもスムーズに習得できるのかを明らかにする予定です。

| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I have conducted various English vocabulary knowledge surveys of children over the past three years, and have been able to analyze what characteristics of English vocabulary children know and what factors impede their English vocabulary learning. Furthermore, I was able to have my research results published in journals such as JASTEC Journal, JES Journal, Vocabulary Learning and Instruction, and HELES Journal.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究結果は，小学校英語における語彙指導に大きく貢献することができる。英単語を児童に教える際に，どのような要因に注意をして指導して，どのような英単語に指導時間を割いて，反対にどのような英単語にはあまり多くの時間をかけない方が良いのかが明らかにされたためである。さらに，特定の英単語の特徴から，児童がその英単語を知っている確率を算出する式を提示したことで，多くの教師が活用し，語彙指導に生かせると考えられる。
