Outline of Research at the Start

理論的・実験的問題点が指摘されている素粒子物理学における標準模型(素粒子標準模型) の拡張に当たり、ゲージ及び重力相互作用を統一的に記述する超弦理論は素粒子統一理論の有力な候補である。本研究は、オービフォールド特異点の解消された余剰次元空間上の超弦理論の有効理論に注目する。特異点解消に付随して現れるブローアップモードの物理を介して超弦理論の痕跡を探ることを目的とする。

Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this research is to search for traces of superstring theory through the physics of blowup modes by analyzing the effective field theory of superstring theory on extra-dimensional spaces with resolved orbifold singularities.
Throughout the research period, I found the following results: i) a unified understanding of the index theorem on orbifolds, ii) spontaneous CP symmetry breaking is possible in Calabi-Yau manifolds, iii) flavor symmetry between blowup modes is embedded in symplectic modular symmetries of Calabi-Yau manifolds, and iv) partial modular symmetries appear in the string landscape.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

理論的・実験的問題点が指摘されている素粒子物理学における標準模型(素粒子標準模型) の拡張に当たり、ゲージ及び重力相互作用を統一的に記述する超弦理論は素粒子統一理論の有力な候補である。本研究は、オービフォールド特異点の解消された余剰次元空間上の超弦理論の有効理論に注目することで、これまで明らかにされていなかった特異点解消に付随して現れるブローアップモードの有効理論の構造を解明した。
