Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では,体内臓器位置変動に対応した放射線治療品質管理システムを構築することを目的とする.まずは,放射線照射後の実績線量分布を作成する.ここでは,放射線照射時に取得できるデータ(CBCT画像,ログファイル,フルエンスデータ)を利用する.この実績線量分布を解析することで,臓器位置変動に対して最も最適な放射線治療計画の立案を目指す.本研究が実現すれば,放射線治療の更なる高精度化が可能となる.

Outline of Final Research Achievements

In stereotactic radiotherapy, the positioning accuracy during irradiation is very important because stereotactic radiotherapy delivers ablative dose to small tumors
In this study, we succeeded in generating actual dose distributions for multiple metastatic brain tumors by using a in-house program that takes into account positional errors during irradiation. Our research showed that the actual dose distributions were equivalent to the planned dose distribution.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

放射線治療の品質管理は、これまでは主に治療開始前に医師が立案した治療計画の物理的・技術的な妥当性を判断することであった。本研究では、照射実施時の患者位置データを考慮して、実績線量分布を作成することができた。このことは、我々が示したデータが放射線照射後の品質管理の一つとして確立できる可能性があることを示唆している。本研究のデータを臨床成績とあわせて解析することで、治療計画のさらなる高精度化に寄与する可能性がある。
