Outline of Research at the Start

高精度で空間制御されたナノ磁性体のスピン配列により、水の濡れ性を制御する新奇な技術を確立し、これらを拡張することで、スピンを活用したソフトマテリアルの革新的制御手法を開発する。さらに同技術を界面制御技術へと高度化し、両系間の角運動量の受け渡しを実現する、すなわちスピントロニクスとソフトマテリアル材料の融合による新奇な量子物性分野の創生する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、高精度で形状制御されたナノ磁性体のスピンが創出する電磁場を用いて、革新的なソフトマテリアルの制御手法を開発することである。具体的には、磁性体表面上の水の濡れ性や対流などを通じて、ナノ磁性体中のスピンと流体が織りなす相互作用を定量的に明らかにし、同現象を各種液体やガス分子などの流体一般の制御技術へと高度化する。さらに、これらの系における量子力学的な相互作用をも引き出し、界面を介したスピン系と流体系の角運動量の受け渡し技術を開発する。流体とナノ磁性体との融合は、ソフトマテリアル系を活用したフレキシブル・スピントロニクスへの展開や特異な表面状態を反映した新量子物性現象など、これまで未開拓の新領域科学に切り込む格好の物質系である。加えて、スピン-動力の直接変換やマイクロ流体発電などの魅力的な工学的応用が期待できる。
今年度は、反応性イオンエッチング装置を用いた微細周期パターンの精度向上、更には、接触角測定器に温度制御器を取り付け、微小水滴蒸発過程の温度依存性を調べる機構を取り付けた。加えて、周期的なナノ磁性体パターンを用いた磁区構造制御法を開発し、より強いフリンジ磁界を発生させる構造の実現に成功した。一連の手法は、水滴制御の要素技術となり得るので、今後は、これらを結集して水滴制御の総まとめ的な実験を行いたい。

Reason

接触角、及びそのダイナミクスの温度依存性や水滴量依存性など、次々と新しい現象が見つかっているため、それらを考慮したうえでの水滴制御法を確立する必要があると判断したため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

前述の通り、今年度得られた数多くの新しい知見(温度制御、水滴量の最適化、高精度微細加工技術、高強度フリンジ磁界)とこれまでの知見をまとめ、最終的な水滴制御を実現する。
