Outline of Research at the Start

対象システムにおける注目すべき構造的変化の要因や影響を説明する汎用的なデータ可視化手法を構築する。特に、局所の変化の特徴の間の関 係性を求めることにより、対象システムの変化について上下レベルのスケールを横断する説明を支援する階層型ネットワークの可視化を実現す る。新指標値Local Event’s Influence on the Global Entropy(LEIGE)を対象システムの大小さまざまなスケールの領域について計算し、 各領域のLEIGEが上下と近隣の領域のLEIGEに影響する度合いを計算する新手法を基礎とする。消費市場、世論の偏り、 地震現象の変化等の説明に適用してゆく。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

これまでに構築した手法を改良しつつ、マーケティングや金融業、地震など当初予定していた応用領域に加えて、感染症拡大対策のような応用領域にも進出し、各業界にふさわしいカスタマイズを行い、産学両面での成果を出すことができるようになった。
金融においては、アセットのネットワークを分割して各領域ごとのエントロピーの特長を生かす分析手法を用いた投資戦略策定手法を発表し、企業との共同研究を経由して企業側での自己改良の可能な手法へと発展する段階に入っている。スーパーマーケットとは社会連携講座の設置と拡大に至っている。
感染症拡大対策においては、ワクチンの接種において、接種度数の分布のエントロピーを各地域に対して最大化する(人口に比例して配分することに近い)ことによって感染拡大を最小限に抑えることを見出し、これをSocial Stirring(社会的攪拌)という概念で説明した。「地域」には国、県、市町村などの階層性があるため、ここにも階層型エントロピーの適用による国民の安全生活手法を提案したことになる。
また、人流データからマルチスケールのメッシュ(100m, 1km, 2km, 4km, 市区町村単位など)における移動方向エントロピー(MDE)を計算する手法を開発し、これにより、市区町村単位のスケールではコロナ感染リスクが高い地域と一致する一方、中程度のメッシュでは多くの人が住みたがる地域が選択的にマークされるようなヒートマックが描かれることが分かった。細粒度においては地域のローカルなにぎわいが生み出されている可能性があり、各スケールにおける高MDEマップおよびスケール間の差異と共通性を観察することの意義について、自治体の関心も集まっている。

Reason

元の目標においては、これまでに構築した手法を改良しつつ、マーケティング、金融、地震などの複数の応用領域に適用して各業界にふさわしいカスタマイズを行うことを最終段階の目標としていた。この目標について、「研究実績の概要」のとおり満たしている。
さらに、元々は階層型エントロピーの効果としては主として「変化の説明」を狙っていた。これはデータには因果関係のうち結果が主として含まれているのに対し、原因は外部データ、特にオルタナティブデータから得る必要のある困難な問題であった。階層エントロピーには、下位層と上位層の論理的繋がりによって事象変化の因果関係を説明する狙いがあった。これに対して、本研究の進捗の過程においては、層と層、および下位層における領域間の差異にも本質があり、どの層に着目するとどのような変化が見えるかという検討においても階層構造が有用であることを、金融や感染症における適用研究の中から示すようになった点で、本研究は応用領域の拡大に加えて、元の目的を超える知見に達しつつあるといえる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

引き続き、予定通り実社会への適用を進めてゆくが、この研究から派生した以下のような新展開を含めて最終年度に挑む予定である。
①階層型クラスタリングの新手法:2~3階層のクラスタを構成し、ひとつの階層におけるクラスタを上階層におけるノードとするような構造を最適化する手法で、この場合の階層は本研究において従来定義していた階層とは異なるが、金融分野などにおいて期待感が発生いている
②意味の細胞(Semantic cell):単語や商品など、各アイテムが複数の意味を持つ細胞(ひとつの意味が染色体となる)として振舞うような進化的メカニズムによって「意味の変化」を捉える手法で、階層型とは異なるが派生的な成果と言える
③にぎわいの測定、発見、および創出:「研究実績の概要」に記載した進捗により、当初想定していなかったまちづくり等の新たな応用領域となっている
