Outline of Research at the Start

低次元トポロジーで長年主力となってきた理論体系として，双曲幾何を通じたThurston理論とゲージ理論がある．これまでこれら2つの理論の間には大きな交渉はなかった．本研究ではThurston理論をバンドル理論の枠組みに載せることにより，ゲージ理論化することを試みる．従来は多様体自体の構造として捉えられていたものを，バンドルを通じて解釈しなおすことにより，Thurston理論でこれまで深い意味がわからなかった現象を，調和写像，Higgs束，ゲージ理論の量子化などを通じて解明することにより，Thurston理論のさらなる発展に大きく寄与することを目指す．

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

２次元においてThuston理論の再構築としてのTeichmuller空間についての研究と，３次元においてのThurston理論の再構築であるKlein群論を用いた双曲多様体の研究の双方を推進した．
２次元においては，まず大鹿がAthanase Papadopoulos, Yi Huangと共同で，前年度の研究に続いて，ThurstonがTeichmuller空間に新たに導入した非対称のFinsler距離について，その構造をTeichmuller空間の余接バンドルに与えられる凸集合族の構造を通して理解する研究を進め，さらに精密化な結果を得た．またHuiping Panを共同研究者に加え，Weil-Petersson内積を通してこのThurston距離と双対の関係にあるearthquake距離を考え，そのFinsler距離としての構造を今度は接バンドルの凸集合族の構造を通して理解する研究を進めた．宮地はTeichmuller空間の接空間と余接空間の関係，特に基点のリーマン面の構造を決める接空間と余接空間の単位球の構造の解明のため，接束および余接束の接構造（2重接構造）について研究した. 2重接構造を記述する空間は4つの空間から構成されるが，小平-スペンサー理論の観点からそれぞれのモデル空間を構成しそれぞれの関係を与えた.
３次元においては，Thurstonの仕事で最も有名なものであるHaken多様体の一意化定理を再構築する仕事を進めた．一意化定理の証明の鍵になっているbounded image theoremは，元の一般的な形での証明は現在に至るまで与えられていなかった．これを新しいKlein群の収束，発散の理論を用いることにより，大鹿とCyirl Lecuireの共同研究で完全な証明を与えることに成功した．

Reason

2021年度はコロナ禍の影響で研究が遅れていた．2022年度になり海外での共同研究が進められるようになり，研究が大きく進展した．具体的は大鹿，宮地はIHP(Paris)において，Papadopoulosと２次元部分の研究である，Teichmuller空間のThurston距離の研究を進めることができた．さらに大鹿はフランスへの出張をこの他にも２度行い，2次元部分のearthquake距離の研究，３次元部分のbounded image thoeremの研究を国際共同研究として行うことができた．これらの出張を通じてさらに来年度以降の研究のための基礎づくりもできたため，今後今までの遅れを取り戻して研究を発展させることができると期待される．

Strategy for Future Research Activity

今後も２次元と３次元それぞれにおいてThurston理論の再構築を行う．
２次元においてはTeichmuller空間におけるThurston距離を平坦構造の変形について適応した研究を進める．これについては大鹿と宮地がPapadopoulosやSaglamと共同研究を行うことにより進めていく予定である．
３次元については，Schottky空間におけるThurston理論の整備を行う．具体的にはSchottky群の凸芯の体積の漸近的な振る舞いを曲面上の複体の幾何学によって記述することを目指す．さらにSchottky群の幾何的極限を解析することにより，Thurston理論の欠落部分であった"broken windows only"の定理の正しい形を境界がcompressibleな場合も含めて構築することを試みる．
