Outline of Research at the Start

Outline of Final Research Achievements
This study elucidated neural and humoral regulatory mechanisms of cardiorespiratory-metabolic responses during exercise at the system level. Human experiments demonstrated that exercise anticipation selectively enhances epinephrine secretion from the adrenal medulla, showing strong correlation with glucose metabolism. Animal experiments pharmacologically proved that epinephrine-β2 receptor-mediated metabolic control represents a fundamental mechanism conserved across species. Open-loop analysis of arterial baroreceptor reflexes quantified the integrated mechanisms by which central predictive control affects peripheral metabolic regulation. The presence or absence of exercise anticipation resulted in differences in exercise performance, demonstrating the importance of feedforward control by higher brain centers. These research findings provide scientific foundations for individualized exercise prescription and optimization of exercise therapy for patients with diseases.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
