| Outline of Research at the Start |
This research investigates the relationship between education and democracy. Specifically, by using the QS World University Rankings, this research investigates whether countries with high quality of universities exhibit better democracy indicators.
To reach these objectives, during the first year we will focus in the completion of the first stage while we build the database for the second stage. On the second year, we complete the second stage and present the results in conferences to improve the outcomes and obtain relevant backups.

We study the effect of the number of universities and the number universities included in international rankings over the number of elections and number of parties. We find evidence that the number of universities impulse to have more political parties. On the other hand, the quality of tertiary education level increases the number of elections hold in each countries and reduces the number of parties.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
I got some final results and now after processing I am working on first version of manuscripts to send them for publication. Initially some data limitations made a slightly modification on the methodology initially proposed.
On second, during this year I have changing my working place so the job hunting and all process of starting new job delayed the production of the manuscript.
