Outline of Research at the Start

中部アフリカの熱帯雨林地域では、ヒトとゾウの「隣人関係」が今日まで存続してきた。本研究では、カメルーン東南部のブンバベック国立公園とンキ国立公園および周辺における生態学と人類学のフィールドワークにもとづいて、ヒトとゾウの隣人関係を軸にすえた生態史を記述し、それをふまえて、ヒトとゾウがキーストーン種として支えている熱帯雨林生態系の保全政策のベースモデルとして「多面的な土地利用を認め、重層的な機能を有するランドスケープのなかで多様性を保全する」というランドシェアリングの有効性を検証する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2020年１１月から研究助成が開始されたものの、コロナ禍のためカメルーンでのフィールドワークは十分に実施できなかったが、2022年3月に研究代表者が研究開始後はじめてカメルーン東南部のプロジェクトサイトを訪問し、カウンタパート研究者と今後の調査の進め方について打ち合わせをおこなった。2022年7月に研究分担者がカメルーンで動物生態および住民にかかわるフィールドワークをするとともに、カウンターパート研究者の研究室に所属する博士課程学生の研究協力者をプロジェクトサイトに派遣して、野生動物の生態、植物のインベントリー等の調査を実施した。2023年2月から、研究分担者がプロジェクトサイトにて本格的なフィールドワークを開始したので、今後は予定どおり研究を推進できる見込みである。なお、これまで研究参加者がアフリカ熱帯雨林における研究をとおして得られていたデータのうち、本研究の内容にもかかわるものを分析することにより、３報の論文、９報の学会報告、１編の図書出版をおこなった。

2020年度から２０２２年度半ばまで、コロナ禍のためフィールドワークが実施できなかったため。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究はカメルーンでフィールドワークをおこなうものであるため、コロナ禍の状況によって研究を実施できるかどうかが影響される。2022年度後半より渡航が正常化したので、今後は計画どおり実施できる見込みである。
