Outline of Research at the Start

2020年に初期科学観測を開始する超大型太陽望遠鏡DKIST(Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope:米国ハワイ)は、既存の太陽望遠鏡を遥かに上回る口径4mを活かした圧倒的な集光力により、光球・彩層の高精度な磁場診断を初めて実現する。本研究では、DKISTとの共同研究体制を構築し、我々の強みである「ひので」衛星観測・彩層磁場診断手法・輻射磁気流体シミュレーションをDKISTデータと組み合わせることで、彩層磁場の高精度測定を行う。これにより、光球~彩層のエネルギー輸送の担い手と熱化の現場を特定し、その散逸量を評価することで、プラズマ加熱問題を定量的に解明する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究計画の第4年度目である2023年度には、前年度に採択されていた久保(研究分担者)・石川(研究協力者)らによるDKIST初期観測フェーズ第2期(OCP2)提案課題について、2023年5月と11月に観測が実施された。初期キャリブレーションを経て、観測データはすでに提案者の元に届けられている。特に11月のデータはシーイング状態が良く高解像度の光球・彩層の偏光分光データ取得されている。また、DKIST以外にも米国Big Bear Solar Observatoryで韓国KASIのグループとIRIS・ひのでとの共同観測を実施し、彩層の高解像度・高速分光データを取得した。この結果を基に2023年3月に2024年度のBig Bear Solar Observatoryへの観測提案を行い受理されている。
本研究課題のもう一つの目標である、輻射磁気流体シミュレーションを用いたモデル大気疑似観測については、Zhou(研究協力者)が(横山(研究分担者)指導の)修士課程研究として実施した擬似観測研究の成果を、英文査読論文としてまとめた。投稿へ向けて鋭意準備中であるとともに、本成果は、2024年3月の日本天文学会で報告された。また国吉(研究協力者)・横山らは、コロナ形成について高解像度計算を行い査読論文2本を出版した。また、鳥海(研究代表者)は太陽黒点形成に関する輻射磁気流体シミュレーションを完成させ、Nature Scientific Reports誌にて出版した(Toriumi et al. 2023)。
なお、新型コロナウイルス感染症に伴う海外渡航の制限を主要因として、これまで研究の進捗に一部制約が生じていたことから、研究実施期間を1年間延長し、研究費(基金)を各機関にて2024年度(令和6年度)へ繰り越す措置を講じた。これにより、本研究課題の総括を2024年度に実施することが可能となる。

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.

Reason

2023年度には、本研究チームのメンバーである久保・石川らによるDKIST OCP2提案観測が実施され、すでに観測データは受領済みである。石川らは先行するOCP1で取得した観測データについて、対流運動と磁場の関係について解析を行い、国際・国内学会で成果報告を行った経験があるため、OCP2のデータについても解析は順調に進められるものと考えられる。また、2023年度には、DKIST以外の地上太陽望遠鏡(Big Bear Solar Observatory)を用いた観測も実施済みである。輻射磁気流体シミュレーションを用いたモデル大気疑似観測についても、Zhouが査読論文原稿の準備を進めており、一部の成果は国内学会で報告済みである。数値シミュレーションの結果を応用すれば、彩層ジェットや衝撃波に伴う磁場構造の変化を、DKISTのカルシウム近赤外線の偏光シグナルとして検出できることが期待される。また国吉・横山らは、コロナ形成について高解像度計算を行い、磁気トルネード構造が形成されることで太陽大気中での磁気エネルギー輸送が局所的に数割増しとなることを示した。この結果をもとに、勝川らとDKISTの次期観測プロポーザルを準備中である。鳥海は黒点形成に関する輻射磁気流体シミュレーション研究を査読論文として出版した。以上の通り、観測・数値シミュレーションの両面で進展が得られたことから、2023年度の進捗状況を「(2)概ね順調に進展している」と判断した。なお、研究実施期間を1年延長し、研究費を2024年度へ繰り越す措置を講じたことで、研究をさらに進捗させることが可能となった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

本研究課題の最終年度となる2024年度は、第2期のDKIST初期科学運用(OCP2)で取得された観測データの解析に取り組む。OCP2では、これまでOCP1で使用されていた可視光偏光分光観測装置(ViSP)・可視光撮像観測装置(VBI)に加えて、近赤外偏光分光観測装置(DL-NIRSP)も稼働を開始したため、複数高度(太陽光球+彩層)におけるデータ取得が実現する。これにより、Zhouらによる数値シミュレーション・疑似観測研究との直接的な比較研究が実現する。石川らはOCP1観測を査読論文にまとめるとともに、Zhouも疑似観測結果の論文投稿を行う。さらに、これまでに取得したDKIST以外の地上太陽望遠鏡(Big Bear Solar Observatory)の観測データについても同チームにより解析を進め、2024年度に新たな観測も実施する。国吉の数値シミュレーション論文に基づき、DKISTへ新たな観測プロポーザルを提出する。また、これまでに構築したデータ解析環境を引き続き使用するとともに、各拠点機関においてデータストレージ(ハードディスク)の購入を行い、研究環境の整備を着実に進める。以上の取り組みをまとめることで、本研究課題の総仕上げを行う。
