Outline of Research at the Start

暖かいプレート沈み込み帯では、断層での低速すべりを反映したスロースリップが地震発生帯下端側で繰り返し発生することで、海溝型巨大地震を引き起こす可能性が指摘されている。しかし、冷たい沈み込み帯では、地震発生帯下端側でのスロースリップの発生の有無さえ良く分かっておらず、スロースリップをもたらす低速すべりの実態、発生メカニズムも不明である。そこで、世界でも産出が稀な冷たい沈み込み帯深部で形成されかつ上昇期の変形の影響が少ないフランス・コルシカ島の変成岩を対象に、イギリスとイタリアの研究者と共同で地質調査を行い、冷たい沈み込み帯におけるスロースリップの実像と発生メカニズムを世界に先駆けて解明する。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

(1)石英ラマン圧力計の検討に基づき、低温高圧変成岩のピーク圧力条件を導き出すことに成功した。また、微量元素とSr-Nd同位体分析を組み合わせた手法を低温高圧型変成岩と石英脈に初適用し、石英脈をもたらすシリカを含む流体の起源は、堆積物からの脱水に由来することを明らかにした。これらの結果から、深部プレート沈み込み境界において、高間隙水圧下で低周波地震や微動をもたらす流体の起源が明確となった。

(2)海洋地殻における脱水と累進変成作用の進行に伴い、深部プレート沈み込み境界においてblock-in-mtarix構造の発達で特徴づけられるレオロジーの不均質性がもたらされることを明らかにした。一方、マントルウェッジ付近のプレート沈み込み境界においては、交代作用による脱水と細粒反応物の生成により、粘性せん断が緑泥石ーアクチノ閃石片岩に局所化して起こることを明らかにし、その際のせん断強度を定量することに成功した。

(3)炭質物ラマン温度計を用いた温度構造の調査とシュードセクション解析により、関東山地三波川帯は四国三波川帯と比較して黒雲母帯の出現が30℃程度低温側で、圧力条件が低いことが明らかになった。その原因として、関東山地は四国よりも後に上昇しており、海嶺の接近によって沈み込むスラブの角度が浅くなったためであると考えられる。四国と関東山地の三波川帯を比較することで、異なる沈み込み角度下でのプレート境界におけるすべりを検証することが可能となった。

Reason

2023年8月18日から22日にかけて仙台で開催された国際会議Water-Rock Interaction WRI-17において、研究代表者らがセッション「Fluid-rock interactions during slow and fast earthquakes」をコンビーナとして主催し、研究代表者、研究分担者が研究課題に関連した発表を行なった。

石垣島・トムル変成岩での研究成果を2編、長崎・西彼杵変成岩に分布する三重メランジュでの研究成果を1編、査読付き国際誌に公表した。1編はFagereng博士との国際共著論文、2編は研究代表者氏家と研究分担者西山博士の共著論文である。

フランス・コルシカ島東北部において、Meneghini博士と共同で地質調査を行い、泥質岩中に認められる石英脈濃集帯の記載・計測を行い、微細構造観察、微量元素・Sr-Nd同位体分析用試料を採取した。また、大陸衝突帯の上盤側に認められる海洋プレート層序の記載を行い、日本の付加体中に認められる海洋プレート層序との比較・検討を行なった。地質調査後、イタリア・ピサ大学に移動し、Meneghini博士の研究グループと共同でセミナーを開催し、研究進捗の報告と議論を行なった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

深部プレート沈み込み境界において石英脈をもたらす流体の起源を特定するにあたり、微量元素とSr-Nd同位体分析を組み合わせた手法は非常に有効であることが明らかになったので、コルシカ島東北部の泥質岩中に分布する石英脈濃集帯に適用し、大陸衝突帯で石英脈をもたらす流体の起源の特定を試みる。

深部プレート沈み込み境界において、block-in-mtarix構造の発達で特徴づけられるレオロジーの不均質性が生じる原因を検討する。

上記の検討結果とこれまでの検討結果を融合させ、研究総括を参画者全員で行う。
