Outline of Research at the Start

肝臓がんは、平均5年生存率が30%程度とがん全体の中でも極めて低く、正確な診断に基づく早期発見が求められている。近年人工知能による診断支援が注目されている。その実用化するために、十分な症例数と最先端な人工知能技術が必要である。本国際共同研究は、アジアのトップ3カ国(日本、中国、インド)が連携して肝臓がんの計算機支援診断技術を確立し、臨床に利用できるシステムの開発を目標とする。計算解剖モデルを事前情報として深層学習ネットワークに組み込むことによって、腫瘍領域のアノテーションを必要としない弱教師学習による腫瘍の検出手法を開発し、高精度な肝臓腫瘍鑑別を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2023年度は深層学習を用いた肝臓がんの診断支援を目的に以下の国際共同研究成果が得られた。
(1) Modality間の不一致性を考慮した、マルチモーダル医用画像における高精度な腫瘍分割法を提案した。その成果は医用画像のトップ学術誌IEEE MI (IF 11.037)で発表した。
(2) 深層学習を利用した病理画像による肝臓がんの診断支援法を開発した。その成果を医用画像のトップ国際学会MICCA2023及び国際学会InMed2023でそれぞれ発表した。
(3) 高精度な連邦学習による腫瘍分割法を開発し、人工知能分野のトップ国際学会IJCNN2023(H5 Index: 63)で発表した。
(3) 2024年2月に連携先のインド工科大学と国際Joint Workshopを開催し、計20件の研究論文が発表された。また、2023年8月-9月, 2024年2月-3月それぞれ約1ヶ月ほど中国の浙江大学で共同研究を実施した。
(4) 2023年6月に大会長として国際学会International Conference on Innovation in Medicine and Healthcareをイタリアのローマで主催した。その論文集を本としてSpringer社より出版された。また、2023年11月に開催された国際学会Digital Medicine and Image Processing (DMIP2023)にて「Recent Advances in Medical Image Segmentation Using Deep Learning」というKeynote Talkを行った。

Reason

肝臓がんの支援診断において、マルチフェーズCT画像だけではなく、マルチモーダルMRI画像や病理画像を用いた手法も開発した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

医師の知識と経験を画像を用いた人工知能(深層学習)手法に取り組むために、文字と医用画像を用いたマルチモーダル医用AIモデルを開発していく予定である。
