Outline of Research at the Start

海洋生物多様性のホットスポットでありながらデータ欠損地域を抱える東南アジアを対象にリモートセンシング技術と種分布推定モデルを統合的に用いることにより、経済開発進展前から現在、および将来を通じた生物多様性の変化に関する復元・評価・予測を行う。過去の沿岸生態系については、航空写真より海草藻場やマングローブの分布を解明するとともに、種分布推定モデルにより過去の海洋環境データを用いたバックキャストを行う。これにより解明された過去から現在の生物多様性の変遷を基に、異なる経済活動・気候変動シナリオごとの将来予測を行う。

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本課題は海洋生物多様性情報欠損海域である東南アジア沿岸海域を対象に、経済開発進展前（1970-2000）、現在（2010-2025）、将来（2040-2100）を通じた生物多様性の変化に関する広域かつ高解像度の復元・評価・予測を行うことを目的とする。特に、沿岸海域の中で多様な生態系サービスを提供しているマングローブ・海草藻場を対象とする。
2022年度は、前年度に引き続きコロナ禍のため、予定していたタイでの全体会議を取りやめ、オンライン会議および電子メールでやり取りを通じて、現地調査および現地情報の収集を継続した。前年度より開始した過去の生物多様性評価に用いる航空写真および衛星画像については、マレーシア、タイで先行解析を進め、現地調査による野外検証が可能な海域を絞り込むことができた。その結果に基づき、2023年２～３月にマレーシアで現地カウンターパートとの協力のもとに１回目の野外調査を実施した。マングローブについては、マレーシア北部から南部の主要調査域において、種構成および生物量の評価を行い、海側から陸側へと優占種が変化する種の帯状分布を野外調査によって定量化し、多様性評価のための基礎情報を得ることができた。海草藻場については、ドローンを用いたマッピングにより、種構成と生物量の変化と環境勾配・景観構造との関連性に関するデータを入手した。一方、マングローブ植物、海草類および底生動物の多様性評価方法については、既存の炭素蓄積評価用のプロットを軸にして、植物と底生動物の多様性を同時に評価する手法の検討を開始した。
タイ、インドネシアおよびフィリピンの調査については、前年度に引き続き目的を達成するのに効果的・効率的な調査サイトの選定、および調査にかかる許可申請手続きの準備を行うとともに、過去の航空写真および衛星画像の入手を進め、広域な空間動態の長期的な変化にかかる解析を進めた。

Reason

コロナ禍の継続のため海外渡航ができない状態が続いた。ようやく、3年目の本年度最終月（2023年３月）に最初の現地調査を行うことができ、これまで進めていたデータベース解析、リモートセンシング解析と現地野外データとの関連性解析に着手することが可能になった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

2023年度はマレーシアにおける野外調査を継続するとともに、タイにおける調査も開始することにより、これまで検討してきたリモートセンシング解析、生物多様性データベース解析の精度評価を現地調査により進める予定である。また、インドネシア、フィリピンにおいても、2024年度の現地調査に向けた準備を進める予定である。特に、底生動物相の生物多様性の評価方法の検討を進めるとともに、マレー半島において、リモートセンシング手法を用いた面的なマングローブタイプの分布型を定量化する。また、異なる地形、環境条件に形成されるマングローブ・海草藻場において、種の帯状分布を野外調査にて定量化するとともに、種の帯状分布の規定要因の解析を行う。また、過去のリモセン画像等により、マングローブ・海草藻場の変遷を定量化する予定である。
