Research Abstract |
Axon growth along the correct path is necessary for neuronal circuit formation. We have discovered the axon-guiding lipid molecule Lysophosphatidylglucoside (LysoPtdGlc), identified its receptor and downstream signaling pathway, and elucidateid its functional significance in the spinal sensory axon tract formation. In contrast to previous studies on the role of proteins as axon guidance cues, thei project has demonstrated the importance of lipid-mediateid axon guidance in neuronal circuit formation
