Research Abstract

昨年度は、欠陥誘起強誘電性に立脚した強誘電体・圧電体の材料設計指針を確立して、BiFeO_3強誘電体結晶の完全分極反転に、世界で初めて成功した。今年度は、(1-χ)BiFeO_3-χ(Bi_0.5K_0.5)TiO_3固溶体単結晶およびセラミックスを対象として、各種解析・物性評価を行った。
X線回折では、菱面体晶(R3c)構造に由来するピークは、χ≦0.36で観測された。中性子回折では、χ=0.40、0.43、0.46においても、R3c造由来の回折ピークが観測された。0.40≦χ≦0.46の組成領域においても、R3c構造の相が存在することが示された。R3c相とP4mm相の二相混相を仮定したリートベルト解析により、回折データを非常に良く再現できた。の増加に伴い、R3c相のモル分率が減少する傾向が得られた(χ=0.30では83%、0.46では66%)。精密構造解析の結果から、優れた強誘電性を示すχ=0.40において、菱面体晶歪みを持つR3c相と、強誘電性歪みが非常に小さい相とが共存した構造をとっていることが明らかになった。結晶構造解析および電子線回折によるドメイン構造解析の結果から、R3c相と擬立方晶相とが共存して、微細なナノドメイン構造を形成していること、およびこのナノドメイン構造が、χ=0.40における優れた強誘電性・圧電性の起源であることが示された。
フラックス法および溶液引き上げ法により、(1-χ)BiFeO_3-χ(Bi_0.5K_0.5)TiO_3固溶体単結晶の育成に、世界で初めて成功した。高酸素圧下で育成した単結晶は、大気中で育成した単結晶よりもリーク電流が大幅に減少した。この結果から、高酸素圧下での単結晶の育成が、欠陥濃度の小さい高品質な結晶の育成に有効であることが明らかとなった。
