Research Abstract |
Pedestrian navigation system for visually handicapped people to enjoy their daily life such as shopping has been developed. As an end user device, GPS-equipped mobile phone is designed to be utilized. Following features are developed to be added to conventional navigation systems :(1) more precise audio directions to move,(2) easily recognizable directional sounds which are compatible with other sounds/noises encountered in daily lives,(3) precise notification of destination such as a small shop. The results are expected to be applied to practically use in several years.
