Research Abstract |
Plants have a specialized phytochrome, phyA, in addition to conventional phytochromes represented by phyB. We expressed chimeric phytochromes having a phyA or phyB sequence in each of 4 phytochrome domains, N-PAS, GAF, PHY and the C-terminus in transgenic Arabidopsis. Biochemical, cell biological and physiological analysis of those plants revealed a "modular" structure of phyA in which different phyA specific properties base on distinct parts of the molecule.
