Research Abstract |
Bone remodeling is a process in which osteoclastic bone resorption is followed by bone formation by osteoblasts/osteocytes. In this study, we found that ephrinA2 produced by osteoclasts is a coupling inhibitor, which suppresses bone mineralization. Furthermore, Fra-1 transgenic mice, which show overproduction of bone matrix due to impaired bone remodeling exhibit pulmonary fibrosis.
