Research Abstract

In this study, we examined the effect of exercise therapy in diabetic nephropathy using type 2 diabetic KK-A^y mice, a spontaneous diabetic nephropathy model. As a result, low-intensity exercise attenuates progression of early diabetic nephropathy without affecting marked renal ischemia. Reduction rates of urinary albumin and maintained podocyte numbers, with parallel improvements in oxidative damage and chronic inflammation are related to the beneficial effects of exercise in diabetic kidney disease.
