Research Abstract

This study, exploring socio-cultural significance of Chicana/o theater in literary studies and American society, finds that Chicana playwrights, Cherrie Moraga in particular, share indigenous women's tradition and cultural experience with Native Americans in terms of such critical concepts as "indigeneity" and "borderness," while they also attempt to find their original way to express their ethnic and sexual identity of Chicana in contemporary American society.
