Research Abstract |
This research is a study on the Japanese-English conversation textbooks in the latter half of 19 century (from late Edo period to Meiji 20). Although these books were known as useful materials which restructure the of Japanese language history, the data of the whole was not clear enough. Therefore this research intended the following and investigated it. (1) What kind of data and how much data exist? (2) Which data has great influence in Japanese language history? (3) How is the process of the appearance of the Japanese-English conversation books, the development, and the disappearance? By the research for five years, 580 books were chosen and investigated at the domestic and overseas libraries, and the data collections in the web. As a result, 168 books suitable for the purpose of this research were chosen, and they have been arranged in Japanese language history.
