Research Abstract |
We developed new econometric methods for survival analysis, and analyzed start-up firms in Japan. We found start-up firms' cumulative hazards of failure vary over time largely. Besides, we found positive relationships between firms' productivity and offshore outsourcing. Furthermore, by building theoretical models, we analyzed how market characteristics and institutions affects innovations by start-up firms, and the roles of entrepreneurs' over-confidence in venture finance.
