Research Abstract |
During postwar rehabilitation in Okinawa, many villagers came to urban area in search of jobs and settled down. As a result of participant observation in two urban communities of old-age women from a same village, I find three features of their interaction.(1) Members adjust to aging, making reference to other members' coping style.(2) They talk about their childhood and share home-oriented mentality.(3) Laughter relaxes tension and delivers them from daily anxiety.
