Research Abstract |
cAMP-responsive element-binding protein(CREB) was found to be activated and cause morphological disruption of epithelial cells under mitochondrial dysfunction. Of note, activated CREB upregulated HMGA2, resulting in activation of epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) program and modulation of integrin. 1 expression. Overall, the results suggest that mitochondrial dysfunction potentially mediates TGF-.-induced malignancy and contributes to neoplastic transformation of epithelial cells.
