Research Abstract |
Role of histamine in inflammation-associated tumorigenesis was investigated using mice deficient of endogenous histamine. In colitis-associated colon cancer model, mice lacking histamine had significantly larger tumors, suggesting that histamine has suppressive role in tumor growth. In spleen from histamine-deficient mice with colon tumor, myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs) were increased, showing a possible mechanism of MDSC-mediated suppression of anti-tumor immune response.
