Research Abstract |
Incubation of THP-l cells with C. perfringens beta-toxin showed the formation of oligomer on lipid rafts. Beta-toxin induced the activation of endogenous phospholipase C and production of IP_3.IP_3-induced Ca^<2+> uptake caused the activation of calmodulin-calcineurin signaling pathway. As beta-toxin caused PI entry and cell swelling, beta-toxin produced cytotoxic activity through necrosis.
