Research Abstract |
The present study was conducted to develop a novel potent dendritic cell(DC) vaccine by inhibiting indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase(IDO) activity for intracellular pathogen infections, such as tuberculosis. We demonstrated that treatment with 1-methyl-L-tryptophan(1MT) decreased IL-10 production from DCs, resulting in augmentation of their antigen-presenting capacity. In addition, we also showed that serum IDO activity is a significant prognostic factor in community-acquired pneumonia and pulmonary tuberculosis.
