Research Abstract |
We addressed clonal diversity of imatinib-resistant gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GIST) using histological and genomic approaches. Of 27 imatinib-resistant GIST, 20 tumors(74. 1%) were composed of foci that showed morphologically different appearance. Although PCR samples were retrieved from the 66 tumor foci using a microdissection technique, KIT gene analysis was capable in only 20 foci(30. 3%).
