Research Abstract |
The epithelial to mesenchymal transition(EMT)is a molecular process through which an epithelial cell undergoes differentiation into a mesenchymal phenotype. The relationship between EMT and resistance to an anti-cancer drug in colorectal cancer remains unknown. In this study, we investigated the acquisition of EMT by 5-FU in colorectal cell lines. 5-FU resistant cell lines did not change into a mesenchymal phenotype. This study suggests that EMT phenotype may not play a significant role in anti-cancer agent resistance in colorectal cancer
