Research Abstract |
In addition to the previously reported vascular endothelial growth factor, Stromal cell-derived factor 1α(SDF-1α) and its inducing endothelial progenitor cells can play important roles in neovascularization and vascular maturation in a variety of intraocular neovascular diseases such as proliferative diabetic retinopathy and neovascular glaucoma. The tendon-derived anti-angiogenic factor, tenomodulin, can suppress the intraocular neovascular activities via the interaction with these factors.
