Research Abstract

(1) 高度にらせん制御された炭素化前駆体を得るべく、不斉液晶反応場で右巻きおよび左巻きにらせん制御したヘリカルポリアセチレン(H-PA)を合成した。
(2) 合成したH-PAを形態保持炭素化法により800℃で炭素化し、さらに2600℃の高温処理によりグラファイト化した。これにより、左右それぞれにらせん構造と形態が制御されたヘリカル炭素化物およびヘリカルグラファイトを調製した。
(3) 不斉液晶を溶媒とする電気化学重合により、らせん状形態を有する新規ポリエチレンジオキシチオフェン(PEDOT)誘導体を合成した。これを炭素化前駆体として同様に熱処理することにより、らせん状形態を有する炭素化物とグラファイトを調製した。
(4) ウイスカー状ポリパラフェニレン誘導体を炭素化することで、ウイスカー状のグラファイトを調製することが可能となり、シングル導電グラファイトファイバーへの創出が期待される結果を得た。
(5) セルロース等の天然ポリマーの代表として、植物セルロース系繊維からなる和紙を対象物として、その形態保持炭素化を行い、多孔質の繊維状炭素紙を得た。この炭素紙を固体高分子型燃料電池における電極のガス拡散層として用いたところ、燃料電池としての発電出力密度は電導度ともに市販品の材料に匹敵するあるいはそれ以上の良好な値を示すことを見出した。
(6) 以上の結果より、本形態炭素化法は、共役系ポリマーのみならず非共役系ポリマーにも適用できることがわかり、その汎用性は極めて高いことを明らかにした。
