Research Abstract

AF相/磁化緩和を示す化合物群の開発
Mn_2Ni系単一次元鎖磁石は、Mn^<III>-Ni^<II>-Mn^<III>S=3三核ユニットが強磁性的に配列した擬Ising鎖であり、[Mn^<III>_2(5-MeOsaltmen)_2Ni(pao)_2(phen)]PF_6において鎖間相互作用により反強磁性的相転移を起こすにもかかわらずT_N以下の温度で遅い磁化緩和を示す新しい磁石相を発見した。この知見から、Mn:Ni=1:1型の単一次元鎖磁石について、BPh_4^-のような大きなカウンターイオンを持つ単一次元鎖磁石(カウンターイオンが鎖間を隔離する)と、比較的小さなカウンターイオンであるPF_6^-を持つ同様な一次元骨格を有するフェリ磁性鎖を得ることに成功し、後者が、反強磁性体にもかかわらずT_N以下の温度で遅い磁化緩和を示す新しい磁石相であることを見出した。このMnNi系は強い鎖内相関を持つ単一次元鎖磁石(Glauberダイナミクスで解釈できない)であるため、このように鎖内、鎖間ともに強い相互作用系でもこのような単一次元鎖磁石を基にした反強磁性相ができることが明らかとなった。しかし、鎖間相互作用が十分に強い系では、緩和は見られない。同様に、MnNi系よりもさらに鎖内相関の強いMnCu系でも反強磁性相の発見に至った。これらの単結晶による磁化緩和の解明までは本年度で行うことはできなかったが、今後、単結晶を用いた磁場下での磁化緩和挙動を調べることにより、この新しい磁石相の理論的な解明に繋げたい。
