Research Abstract

従来のロータス型ポーラス金属は高圧水素ガスを用いた雰囲気中で金属を溶解・凝固させることによって作製されてきた。高圧ガス容器は高価であり取り扱いが面倒であり、水素は暴爆性ガスとして取り扱いにはリスクが伴う。この問題を克服するために、高圧ガスの代わりに水素化物などの粉末を溶融金属の添加し一方向凝固を行わせることによって良質なポーラス金属の作製を試みてきた。ガス化合物の溶融金属中での熱分解を利用してガス原子を解離させて、連続鋳造法を用いて長尺のロータス型ポーラス銅およびアルミニウムの作製に成功した。量産化製造を目指した、簡単で安全で低コスト化のロータス型ポーラス金属の製法確立は世界で初めてのものである。
1.ロータス型ポーラス銅の作製
0.1MPaのアルゴン雰囲気中で銅を溶解し移動速度を84mm/minにセットしてチタン水素化物粉末を一定時間間隔で添加することによって、長さ200mm以上の、気孔率32%のロータス型ポーラス銅を作製した。
2.ロータス型ポーラスアルミニウムの作製
0.01MPaの低圧のアルゴン雰囲気中でアルミニウムを溶解し7mm/minの低速の移動
速度でチタン水素化物粉末を一定時間間隔で添加することによって、長さ300mm以上の、気孔率が35%程度のロータス型ポーラスアルミニウムの作製に成功した。
3.ヒートシンクへの応用
ロータス型ポーラス銅を用いて空冷ヒートシンクの熱伝達率の測定を行ったところ従来の溝型ヒートシンクに比べて冷却能が13倍も向上していることが見出された。
空冷ヒートシンクにロータス型ポーラス金属が最適であることを実証することができた。
