地球温暖化にともなう山岳氷河の融解が世界の水資源逼迫に与える影響

Research Abstract

平成22年度は、まず、既存の全球山岳氷河モデルを改良するため、氷河の位置や形状情報の収集ならびに衛星観測データを用いたモニタリングデータの作成を行った。Landsat-TMの可視・近赤外波長から全球氷河の位置と形状を30mの超高解像度で認識する基礎アルゴリズムを開発した。既往の氷河インベントリーが得られる場所において比較を行ったところ、おおむね妥当な氷河形状データが抽出されたことが確認できた。
また、氷河の上の雪の算定精度向上のために氷河と雪層のエネルギー収支を計算する物理モデルを開発し、SnowMIPプロジェクトによる雪観測データを用いたモデルの検証を行った。その結果、異なる気候帯において、地表面反射度や雪の温度などが妥当に再現できることが確認できた。その他には8月から9月にかけてはスイスアルプスにおいて氷河の観測を実施し、氷河動態の3次元的なパラメータも取得した。今後は、これらの現地観測と衛星モニタリングデータや雪サブモデルを全球氷河モデルに導入し、モデルの飛躍的な改良を目指す。
このような氷河モデルの改良を行う一方で、前年度までに作成した全球山岳氷河モデルに将来100年間の気象データを入力として与えた地球温暖化実験のテストランを行った。具体的には、前年度までに収集・整備を行った過去60年(1948年～2007年)の全球日気象データと、気候モデルによる過去再現実験から得られる気象データの比較を行うことでバイアス補正手法を開発し、気象モデルの将来の気温や降水といった気象データのバイアスを補正した上で氷河モデルに与える実験を行った。地球温暖化による氷河の融解水が今後どのように増減するかを世界で初めて時系列の形で示すシステムが構築できたが、前述の氷河モデルの精緻化・改良が終了した後に、最終的なモデルシミュレーションを実施し、結果の解析を行う予定である。
