Research Abstract |
Metabolic syndrome (MS) is associated with overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The increase of UCP2mRNA expression may depend on increased oxdative stress in SHRSP.Z-Lepr^<fa/>Izm Dmcr rats (SP・ZF). The increase of UCP2 mRNA expression may relate to the phenotype in metabolic syndrome status in SP・ZF. We observed that kudzu extracts could decrease body weight, blood pressure, and serum lipids significantly by increasing UCPs, PPARs.
