Research Abstract |
Polylactic acid is a biobased polyester, which is synthesized from fermentative lactate. We attempted to synthesize lactate-incorporated polymer using the transgenic plants. To meet this goal, the gene encoding the monomer supplying enzymes and polymerase were introduced into plants. The expression of these genes and polyester synthesis were confirmed.
