Research Abstract |
The previous study demonstrated that the engineered β-barrel proteins presenting pseudo-amyloid structures on their surfaces can bind tightly to Alzheimer's amyloid β-peptide (Aβ). In this study, suppression of Aβ toxicity using the engineered β-barrel proteins was evaluated. Moreover, the design strategy using β-barrel proteins was expanded for polyglutamine proteins that relate Huntington's disease.
