Research Abstract

生物多様性の損失が依然として続く中、その動態の現状を把握することで適切な対策を提案することが強く求められている。日本でもこれまで様々な種を対象とした全国モニタリング体制が整備されてきたが、蓄積されたデータを統一的にモデル化し、生物多様性動態を詳細に把握する試みはほぼ皆無であった。このモデル化を阻んできた大きな障壁のひとつが、全国規模で多数の調査員によって得られたデータに特有な欠損値や大きな測定誤差の存在である。そこで本研究では、階層ベイズモデルに代表される先端的な統計手法を用い、様々なモニタリングから得られる情報量の違いに合わせて生物多様性動態の傾向を把握する手法を確立することを目的とした。
最終年度である本年度は、まず昨年度までの研究活動で確立した、生物多様性動態を階層ベイズモデルを用いて定量化する手法の、より幅広い対象への適用可能性を検証するために、日本の気象庁によって取得されてきた生物季節データへの適用を行った。その結果、昨年度にイギリスのデータを用いて行った成果と同様に、群集レベル及び種レベルで植物の開花時期変化を定量化する指数を推定することに成功した。
また3年間の研究期間で確立、検証した手法の詳細、可能性、今後の課題について広く知らせるために、「鳥類個体群の時空間動態を明らかにする包括的アプローチ」、"Unravelling the dynamics of organisms in a changing world using ecological modelling"とそれぞれ題した和文、英文の総説を執筆し、日本鳥学会誌及びEcological Research誌に投稿した。前者は既に受理・発表済みで、後者は査読・改訂を経て現在再査読中である。
