Research Abstract

This Research project was aimed to analyze the effects of foreign direct investment(FDI) on the Japanese economy through the following two channels, each of which mutually affects the other;
(1) Technological spillovers from FDI performing firms to FDI host country firms
(2) The labor market of the FDI source country.
The results from theoretical studies on FDI spillovers and theoretical/empirical studies on the(Japanese) labor market are consistent with recent observations with the Japanese and other Asian economies.
