Research Abstract |
Tokushichi Nomura started his business as an exchanger and finally established a zaibatsu(business conglomerates), which is characterized by its finance industry and its overseas operations such as plantation business. Not only his entrepreneurship, which seeks an industrial modernization and an innovation, but also his business ethics, which is influenced by the Japanese traditional values of Bushido and Shonindo, the spirit of the samurai and that of the merchant, played an important role in the developmental process. Especially, justice was the norm and the guiding philosophy for the investment and business activity. In this research, I examined the formulation process of Tokushichi's philosophy, and its penetration and sharing process to the professional managers and employees, and investigated Nomura group companies' social responsibilities and social contribution.
